Not all samples can be pelletized using Aluminium cups.
They may be unstable or the aluminium cups effect the result.
In such a case a binding material can be used.
The most common is Hoechstwax HWC, available as a loose powder.
Alternatively, a high performance “multimix” binder is available, in
tablet form, producing highly stable and durable pellets.
It is important to mix the binder well with the sample using our mixer
MU-K-Mixer. Contact us for further information for your application.
If you have only a small amount of sample material a stable pellet can be made by using boric acid at
the back of the sample. The boric acid is poured into the die first and then the sample is added on top.
During pressing the boric acid forms a stable backing to the sample.
Wax is good for the preparation of reference samples or calibration standards.
Important is a good homogeneous mixture between wax and your sample.
Multimix is good for the preperation of cement, raw meal, clinker, sand, etc..
You just add 2-3 pellets before milling your sample and you will get a nice stable dustfree pellet. |
